I’m Tracy Panik historian for Levi
Strauss and company and I’m excited to
be here today with special guests
Janine Chilton Faust she is the vice
president of men’s design here at the
company and we’re here to look at one of
her favorite pieces from the archives a
special pair of fiber ones I’m so
excited to review this Jean today
because it is from where I am from which
is Colorado I went to school in a small
mountain town and I was actually worked
for a small men’s store
retail store that sold rigid 501 strict
to fit and that was kind of our uniform
in school at the time everyone wore 500
ones and we slid them up the side and
put them over a little hiking boots and
I’d wash them ten times until they fit
me and I’d say I have a love of hair
with 501 so it’s kind of perfect this
pair is so special because it really is
truly the authentic 501 that we wear
today in the modern times because the
Cinch back because of the world war two
and saving cost was removed and the guy
wearing it had a belt so you get this
beautiful shadow mark on there and I
love the fact that during those times
you can’t see it on this pair because it
was worn off but it was a paid to dark
you it I think this is what is so great
about why the designers love to come and
explore the archives for Levi’s because
they just have there’s so many ways to
use the product for today you know it’s
like this we could get probably 10
finishes off of this in modern day just
by all of the elements coming off of
this that we could put into a Jean
