Service Corps came out of this idea that
those of us who work on sustainability
and worker well-being on a daily basis
we’re incredibly and proud of the work
and we had a real vision for how Levi’s
was having an outsized impact on the
communities where we make our products
but we realized that the folks who work
just one level beyond day to day didn’t
really have a full understanding of how
impactful these programs are and we
realized we weren’t going to accomplish
what we were looking for by telling
people about it that we really needed to
show them so we went out and we designed
a program where two cohorts per year
probably about a dozen employees from
all around the world representing all of
our functions and all of our region’s go
and they spend a week in the community
where we are actually manufacturing our
goods and we try to get them not just an
experience of what does typical workers
life look like and how are our programs
helping to impact their communities but
we also give them a real education on
how we make our products so if you think
about it most of us have working on one
piece of it while we know the factories
exist we don’t all get to touch feel and
see it on a day-to-day basis so on a
service core project employees get to
see sometimes they get to visit a cotton
field they get to go to a cotton gin
they get to go to a mill they get to go
to the factories and they get to spend
time with the workers who are actually
making our products and see how
impactful the programs are that we’ve
designed and how they’re making a big
difference in our communities
